Scalping is the removal of dormant, straw-colored turf, and it promotes earlier green-up and helps prevent thatch and weed problems throughout the summer.  Our Spring Scalping process uses State-of-the-Art commercial lawn mowers.  These mowers have a 26hp air induction motor which sucks up all of the grass clippings and loose thatch while scalping the grass low.

The ideal time to scalp your lawn is early spring when the grass is about to or just starting to green up.  This timing varies every year with temperatures, but is typically March 1st to April 1st for Bermuda lawns and mid-March to mid-April for Zoysia lawns.
